i have been going on about this for years now and IMHO CiTV's downfall must have been from about 2003-present here are the list of downfalls CiTV has had since then - most of CiTV's programmes where axed around that time including SMTV Live - They got rid of the presenters only to replace it with out of vision continuity (which is just terrible) but how did it last more that 5 years thats how long Steve Ryde did CiTV but bowed out in '98 and Steve Ryde was better than the current out of vision presenter Tim Dann - since the CiTV Channel launched in '06 there has not been enough original programs, in that same year CiTV scrapped the traditional weekday lineup for CiTV and just for weekends only if thats not bad enough CiTV scrapped the weekend links as well around 2009 and just for the record this isn't about me being negative just pointing out the downfalls of CiTV since 2003

I say it was around 2001, when instead of having different programmes on every day of the week, it was the same shows everyday and it changed around every few weeks when they ran out of shows.

Yep i agree, 2000 was really the last fantastic year of CITV, and when Danielle left it's just went downhill from there.
What we need is for Nigel Pickard to come back and restore it to it's former glory, but that's highly unlikely in this awful current climate.

When Danielle left, it was done. For me a really symbolic thing was the unceremonious axing of long running shows like Art Attack and How 2 - they didn't even give these shows proper send-offs. Awful. You have to give My Parents Are Aliens its due too I suppose - it really was the last classic CITV show.

Neil mentioned in a radio interview he decided to call a day on Art Attack after 17 years he was beginning to run out of ideas! I suppose it was a mixture of the two Talking of Art Attack I do also have an Art Attack themed forum too! www.thisisanartattack.proboards.com/index.cgi

I like CiTV until there was no in-vision continuity from presenters. I quite liked that Swag puppet they had back then so I think that was what was good for me.

2002 was the beginning of the downfall for me. The last great (original) shows that were made by CITV were "My Parents are Aliens", "Harry and the Wrinklies", "Grizzly Tales for Gruesome Kids" and "Roger and the Rottentrolls". The last great year was 2000, when CITV were thankfully still making and broadcasting "Zzzap!", "Art Attack" and "The Big Bang" etc. By 2001 though "Zzzap!" had sadly gone , during 2002-2003 presenters were being changed constantly. It reverted back to out-of-vision continuity in 2004, the stings and idents (i.e the Kung Fu chicken and the Farting Fairy) looked cheap and tacky. So did the logo, I switched off from CITV at this point. When I found out that "Art Attack" hadn't been recomissioned in 2007, it was like the end to a final chapter in a book. They'll never be another show like that again. I was channel hopping a few years back one afternoon and I came across the CITV channel and for old times sake I'd decided to stick with it. After about half an hour I switched over, it was just constant repeats of "Horrid Henry" and the variety had gone. When I was growing up in the 90's, CITV had such an assortment of programmes, there was something for everyone. There isn't now. It's going to be hard to restore CITV back to how it used to be, it can be done but it seems ITV don't care about it anymore.

In a podcast interview, Neil actually decided to call it a day after 17 years, he was beginning to run out of ideas really, but it was a mixture of that and CITV axing a lot of shows.
it does feel like CITV doesn't care, which a shame, CITV programmes had as much care and effort put into them as the normal primetime programmes.
Even the imports they buy these days are crap imports, they used to buy good imports.

I personally think CITV went downhill from when the service was resorted to a much smaller low budget studio in September 2003. I think you could tell at the point that they were troubled times ahead. But at least they were still making and commissioning more home-grown programmes than they do these days.
